Maya - The Lost Mother
A tale of war, love, and pain
"Pinky (a dog) can be seen in 50 sequences throughout the movie," said Masud Pathik, director of "Maya - The Lost Mother". The picture is set to be released today.
At the outset, National Award-winning director - Masud Pathik said, "The audience will see the social crisis of a war child along with stories of love and pain throughout the movie."
However, the story of the film mainly portrays the tale of a Briangana mother and our liberation war. The director said that the storyline of the movie has been sorted from Shahabuddin Ahmed's painting - "Woman" and Kamal Chowdhury's poem - "Juddhoshishu".
Masud received a grant for "Maya - The Lost Mother" during 2014-2015 but the shooting commenced in 2018. The shooting then went on for 33 days and in Dhaka, Narshingi, and Bhramanbaria.
In regards to the movie, the director said, "Making a movie in Bangladesh is a very difficult task given that we have to go through various types of adverse conditions. Nekabborer Mohaproyan was my first movie and I received the National Film Award for that film. This is my second film, let's see how the audience perceives it."'
Female actor from Kolkata - Mumtaz Sarkar played an important role in the film. In this regard, Masud said, "The character was created thinking of Mumtaz and she fabulously blended in with the character."
Meanwhile, actress Jyotika Jyoti played the role of "Maya" in the movie. Regarding her role in the movie, she said, " Maya's character plays a very important role in the movie. Maya is an extraordinary woman of the ordinary class who represents the whole of Bangladesh. The Maya team has worked very hard together for this film and we all been very supportive of each other."
Mumtaz Sarkar, Pran Rai, Debashish Kaiser, Syed Hasan Imam, Jhuna Chowdhury, Nargis Akhter, Lina Ferdousi, Dr Shahadat Hossain Nipu, Aslam Sani, and Majid Promukh have played roles of various characters of the movie.
