A decade ago, on January 22, renowned actor Mehazabien Chowdhury became the Lux Channel I Superstar. Since then, she has spent the next ten years of her career as an actor. Throughout the years, Mehazabien has been pleasing her fandom with many dramas and telefilms. Besides, she has been representing and modelling for numerous brands.
"I was very young when I entered the film industry. I have kept learning through my journey and the toil took turns with time," said Mehazabien in a conversation with The Business Standard.
She first appeared on Iftekhar Ahmed's "Tumi Thako Shindu Parey" paired with Mahfuz Ahmed and has starred in many dramas ever since. In 2017, the telefilm titled "Boro Chele" featuring Mehazabien appealed a huge audience and on Youtube alone, grabbed the attention of 23,959,986 viewers.
TBS asked Mehazabien to rate her acting on a scale of 1-10, she said, "It is hard to say… I think I would give myself 6.5 or 7". Mehazabien thinks she still has a lot to learn in order to score a 10 on 10. She added, "I want to learn different dialects and at the same time, want to carry out serious roles that will leave a mark on viewers' minds."
Mehazabien did not consider acting as a career at the beginning. Upon gaining experience from working in the industry for a few straight years, she decided to stick to acting. She said, "Through this long journey, I now think I can act properly to some extent. This is why I have chosen this as a profession."
Regardless of her competence, Mehazabien is not spared from criticism. She has been leaned in many trolls and memes on social media. The hype of "Boro Chele" drew many individuals and groups of individuals towards creating tempting content and posting it on platforms like Facebook, Instagram, and Youtube.
In this regards, she said, "I do whatever it takes to make sure my acting portrays the character accordingly. With this thought in mind, justifying my character is way more important for me than the criticism. I laugh or cry if the script demands me to, the fact that I can do it right makes me happy and proud. It is not that easy to fix a trademark and if my tears have become my trademark, I am happy."
Mehazabien's performance, especially crying on cue has been compared to the role-playing of once-famous National Award-winning actor - Shabana. On this motif, she said, "If people compare me to Shabana mam, that too is a huge achievement for me."
Being on the contrast with Shabana, Mehazabien, however, is a huge fan of Jaya Ahsan. Jaya's script choosing and acting methods work as an inspiration for her. This is why she wants to act in dramas that the viewers will reminisce.
Viewers' love and admiration is a huge attainment for her. "People love, praise, discuss, and criticize my work, what can be more pleasing than this?" said Mehazabien.
In regards to her recent work, Mehazabien is busy with shooting of a drama for Valentine's Day till mid-February. Mehazabien will soon be seen on the silver screen, she is preparing for her film and it is yet to know when that will happen.
