Dhaka's air quality improved on Tuesday evening, but it is still unhealthy in the Air Quality Index (AQI).
The capital had a score of 242 at 8:00am, the air quality was categorised as "very unhealthy".
Dhaka ranked 20th and had a score of 126 at 6:00pm, which means the air quality was "unhealthy".
Mongolia's Ulaanbaatar, Vietnam's Hanoi, and India's Delhi occupied the top three slots with score of 193, 187 and 183 respectively.
Air quality is categorised as good when the AQI value is between 0 and 50. The air is classified as moderate when the score is 51-100. But when the number is between 101 and 150, the air is classified as unhealthy for sensitive groups.
When the AQI value is between 201 and 300, every city dweller may begin to experience health effects.
The AQI, an index for reporting daily air quality, tells people how clean or polluted the air of a certain city is, and what associated health effects might be a concern for them.
