Floodwater around Dhaka receding slowly
The flood situation in Dhaka, Munshiganj, Faridpur, Madaripur, Chandpur, Rajbari, Shariatpur and Narayanganj will remain the same for another 24 hours
Floodwater has started receding slowly from low-lying areas in Dhaka and its surrounding regions. However, people here will have to wait at least two more days for the water to start ebbing away substantially, according to the Flood Forecasting and Warning Center (FFWC).
Mohammad Arifuzzaman Bhuiyan, executive engineer of FFWC told The Business Standard, "The floodwater around Dhaka is receding very slowly. However, there is no fear of the water increasing. It may take another week to improve the overall flood situation."
Water in most of the flood-hit areas of different districts has also started decreasing. Roads and houses in some areas are still inundated, but floodwater has also gone down from many places.

The data from the Ministry of Disaster Management and Relief on August 3 said 161 upazilas of 33 districts across the country were affected by the floods, rendering 953,940 families marooned. 41 people have died and more than 55.15 lakh others have been affected by the prevailing flood.
According to FFWC data, although the water level of the Turag River has receded a bit, it is still flowing 41 cm above the danger level. The water in the Tongi canal increased by 3 cm on Tuesday and is flowing 33 cm above the danger level. The flood-hit areas of Dhaka have not improved due to the increase of water level.
People in some low-lying areas of Dhamrai, Savar, Ashulia in Dhaka, Namabazar in Tongi, Gazipur are still marooned.

The flood situation in Kurigram, Gaibandha, Chilmari, Bahadurabad, Kazipur and Sirajganj will continue to improve as the water in the rivers in these areas is receding rapidly.
Flood-affected people of Manikganj's Daulatpur upazila said floodwater has started to recede from the houses there. Water has already receded from many houses and roads.
Quader Mia, a farmer in the area, said water has receded from his house over the last two days, but there are problems in movement due to flood-damaged roads.
Most of the houses in Char Nasirpur Union of Faridpur's Sadarpur Upazila were flooded. The water has started to recede from these areas, but the roads there are damaged and have become unusable.
Md Wasim of the area told The Business Standard that the water is receding but the roads are damaged in such a way that it has become difficult to move about.
