Northern region likely to experience colder weather this year

Meteorologists have forecast that people residing in northern districts are likely to experience colder weather this winter, compared to last year. In the meantime, people have already started feeling chilly as temperatures have been dropping of late. Locals of Tetulia in Panchagarh are expecting colder weather than in other parts of the country.
Locals said they have started using blankets at night, especially during the latter hours. Shopkeepers have started warm clothes in anticipation of the bitter cold this winter season.

Assistant Meteorologist, Md Mustafizur Rahman said temperatures in Rangpur Division have been dropping gradually, ranging from 13°C to below. Tetulia Upazila registered a temperature of 13.5°C on Monday night. Per forecasts, the temperature may drop to 10-11°C within the next two days.
As per information received from the weather office in Nilphamari Upazila, weather office of Nilphamari, 15.2°C was recorded in Syedpur Upazila, while Dimla Upazila registered a temperature of 15.5°C last night.
However, locals of Rajarhat in Kurigram experienced a temperature of 14°C, while Rangpur recorded a temperature of 16°C last night. The Met Office forecasts a temperature drop in the next couple of days.
Zahirul Islam of Shalban Mistripara in Rangpur City said that it has gotten colder in the last few days, while it is still hot during the day. He said, "It is very cold at night and you can't sleep without a blanket,". he added.
Amirul Islam, who lives in the Munsipara area of the city said that they wear warm clothing outdoors as it is getting colder every day. They are getting ready with warm clothes ahead of the severe cold.
Rangpur District Civil Surgeon, Dr Hirombo Kumar Roy said that winter has started early in the Northern region of the country, including Rangpur. This may cause a spike in coronavirus infections this winter.
Therefore, everyone is advised to be careful this winter, especially, immunocompromised adults and children with heart ailments and diabetes.
