Vienna takes first place in top ten green cities in the world
A Canadian-American agency, Resonance, has published a list of top ten green cities in the world. Austrian capital Vienna has taken the first place in the list. The city of Munich in Germany is next to it.
The organization has selected the best green cities in the world by reviewing various issues on over a hundred cities of the world.
The list of green cities is announced based on the extent of green forestry in the city, renewable energy, amount of air pollution, public transport system, pedestrian friendly roads etc. The Austrian capital Vienna has taken the first place this year. In second place is Munich, Germany, and in third place is Berlin, Germany.
Vienna's public transport is known as a benchmark for Europe, and about half of the city's population uses annual public transport tickets, Resonance said. Vienna Mayor Michael Ludwig, meanwhile, said Vienna's parks and green forests are open to all, helping improve the quality of life for the people of Vienna.
