ICMAB recognises 46 organisations for best corporate practices
The winners of the ICMAB Best Corporate Awards received Gold, Silver, and Bronze positions
The Institute of Cost and Management Accountants of Bangladesh (ICMAB) on Thursday honoured 46 organisations in 17 categories for demonstrating excellence in corporate practices, evaluated on both financial and non-financial indicators.
The winners of the ICMAB Best Corporate Awards received Gold, Silver, and Bronze positions. A Jury Board, chaired by Prof Mohammed Farashuddin, former Governor of Bangladesh Bank, reviewed and approved the final list, which was prepared by 45 evaluation experts from ICMAB. The board also included Anis A Khan, President of the Board of Trustees of Bangladesh Cancer Aid Trust (BANCAT), and Muzaffar Ahmed FCMA, Executive President of Credit Rating Information and Services Ltd.
The awards were presented by Salehuddin Ahmed, adviser to the Ministry of Finance and Science & Technology, at a ceremony held at the Grand Ballroom of Pan Pacific Sonargaon Hotel in Dhaka. Special guests included Commerce Adviser Sheikh Bashir Uddin, Commerce Secretary Md Selim Uddin, and Md. Abdur Rahman Khan, Chairman of the National Board of Revenue (NBR).
Arif Khan FCMA, Chairman of the Corporate Award Committee and a past President of ICMAB, delivered the welcome speech, while ICMAB President Mahtab Uddin Ahmed FCMA addressed the gathering in his presidential speech.
Highlights of the winners
State-Owned Commercial Banks: Sonali Bank PLC secured Gold, followed by Rupali Bank PLC with Silver, and Agrani Bank PLC with Bronze.
Private Commercial Banks: BRAC Bank PLC won Gold, Eastern Bank PLC claimed Silver, and Dutch Bangla Bank PLC took Bronze.
Islamic Banks: Shahjalal Islami Bank PLC achieved Gold in the Private Commercial Bank (Islamic Operation) category.
Non-Bank Financial Institutions (NBFIs): IDLC Finance PLC earned Gold, DBH Finance PLC won Silver, and IPDC Finance PLC received Bronze.
Non-Life Insurance: Sena Insurance PLC won Gold, City Insurance PLC claimed Silver, and Reliance Insurance Limited earned Bronze.
Life Insurance: National Life Insurance PLC topped with Gold, followed by Pragati Life Insurance Limited with Silver, and Sandhani Life Insurance Company Limited with Bronze.
In the manufacturing sector, Square Pharmaceuticals PLC led the Pharmaceuticals Manufacturing category with Gold, while Renata PLC and Beximco Pharmaceuticals Ltd. took Silver and Bronze, respectively. LafargeHolcim Bangladesh PLC topped the Cement Manufacturing category with Gold.
Among garments and textiles, Matin Spinning Mills PLC claimed Gold, with Paramount Textile PLC and Square Textiles PLC winning Silver and Bronze.
Marico Bangladesh Limited stood out in the Multinational Company (MNC) Manufacturing category, taking Gold, with British American Tobacco Bangladesh PLC and Reckitt Benckiser (Bangladesh) PLC securing Silver and Bronze.
Additional highlights included
Power Generation: United Power Generation & Distribution Co. Ltd. (Gold) and Doreen Power Generations & Systems Ltd. (Bronze).
Oil, Gas & Energy: Jamuna Oil Company Limited took Gold, Meghna Petroleum Limited won Silver, and Padma Oil Company Limited earned Bronze.
IT & Telecommunication (TELCO): Grameenphone Ltd. secured Gold, while Robi Axiata PLC claimed Silver.
NGOs: BRAC earned the Gold position, icddr,b took Silver, and ActionAid Bangladesh received Bronze.
