Can’t get IKEA products in Bangladesh? Well, now you can
The Business Standard has shortlisted five products from the IKEA products Bangladesh group, which are useful, reasonably priced, and would also enhance the beauty of your home
If you have an interest in home décor, perhaps you are aware of the popular Swedish brand IKEA that designs and sells ready-to-assemble furniture, kitchen appliances, and home accessories.
IKEA has 445 stores worldwide. Although it does not have any official store in Bangladesh, you can still buy its products from here.
They can be ordered through a group 'IKEA products Bangladesh', or a Facebook page 'Asia Decor Bangladesh'. And, it has been possible for a guy named Mosleh U Rony.
Last year, IT specialist Mosleh came to visit his family in Bangladesh and got stuck here due to the Covid-19 pandemic.
Instead of wasting time, he decided to start a business of importing IKEA products.
Within a few days, he noticed a demand for these products among Bangladeshi consumers.
Mosleh shared with us that although the demand is not very big, it is still good enough to continue the business.
His customers are generally from areas like Gulshan, Baridhara, Banani, and Dhanmondi. Every month, he gets some pre-orders for IKEA products.
Once customers confirm the orders, he imports the products with the help of his friends.
Usually Mosleh imports from Singapore and Malaysia. As it is not an official process, the shipping charge is quite expensive.
"It is not easy to import here. I have to count the delivery charge abroad and then the shipping cost here too. On top of that, bringing fragile things means every time I am going to pay for some damaged or broken products. So, people who understand this hazard and are still interested in buying IKEA products, do not complain about the price," shared Mosleh.
Salma Parvin, a consumer of the IKEA products Bangladesh group, shared her satisfaction after buying a pendant lamp from there.
She praised the admin panel for bringing an authentic product within a short time.
