Fat Boy Pies - Cheez has competition
Unlike the name, the pizzas actually have thin crusts, more in line with traditional Italian pizzas but they definitely make these as gourmet as possible with the ingredients
There was a time in the 1990's where the closest thing to a pizza was seeing it during an episode of Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles on BTV.
Fast forward a few decades and pizzerias are mushrooming everywhere with customers craving for more.
But that has also led to added competition and the need for differentiation has become a key ingredient to achieving success.
The latest and shiniest kid on the block 'Fat Boy Pies' gives their take on pizzas but tries to spruce it up with a couple of special ingredients.
Thin crusts, big flavour
Unlike the name, the pizzas actually have thin crusts, more in line with traditional Italian pizzas but they definitely make these as gourmet as possible with the ingredients.
None of the pizzas look or feel simple and give off a touch of sophistication and an advanced level of culinary acumen.
The Beef Jalapeno, Chicken Macedonia and All Star Seafood Olympics are three pizzas that are must-haves here.
All of them have an immaculate blend of dough and topping and unlike most thin crust pizzas, the toppings stay firmly on the dough when you cut up a slice, and that deserves extra brownie points.
You can order in two sizes - Fat (12 inches) and Extra Fat (16 inches).
As these are thin crust pizzas, the faster you finish them the better, as reheating and having it just won't have the same feel.
The flavours and the ingredients used in the pizzas have to be commended as you can tell that the chefs' put extra effort and care into making sure that the pizzas taste as unique and different from each other as possible.
The price is right
You can order their cheapest pizza - the 12 inch Margherita - for a very reasonable 400 taka.
Their most expensive pizza - the 16 inch All Star Seafood Olympics - is 950 taka, once again a very competitive price.
The competition such as 'Cheez' has similar thin crust pizzas priced a bit higher so that is something to keep in mind if you're looking for a cheaper alternative.
Given the Covid-19 pandemic, the pizzas are delivery-only at the moment and they deliver in the tri-state area.
The packaging is quite impressive with an extra layer of plastic wrapping around the pizza box to ensure utmost care and safety during these testing times.
You can order their pizzas from 12 pm - 11 pm via their number on their Facebook page or by messaging them there.
Given the rise of Cheez despite some premium prices, one feels that Fat Boy Pies ticks all the right boxes to gain massive popularity among the pizza lovers.
Based on price, service and quality of food, we rate them a very high 4.5 out of 5.
