Actor Nawshaba arranges creative contest amid shutdown
The contest categories include short story writing, poetry, children’s category, short film, photography, art and sculptures, and illustration and cartoons
People across the world are locked indoors due to the prevailing coronavirus pandemic. To keep people in quarantine motivated, actress Quazi Nawshaba Ahmed's organization "Together We Can" has arranged a creative contest titled "Art for Togetherness".
Interested individuals can participate in the contest from any part of the world. The contest categories include short story writing, poetry, children's category, short film, photography, art and sculptures, and illustration and cartoons.
The judges include Bangali artists from various countries, including Upol Sengupta, frontman of Kolkata-based band Chandrabindoo; Indian film actor Gourab Chatterjee; Punjabi singer Raja Kashef; Bangladeshi producers Nurul Alam Atiq, Deepankar Deepon and Mesbaur Rahman Sumon; actress Bonna Mirza; cartoonists Ahsan Habib and Morshed Mishu; renowned authors Selina Hossain and Anisul Haque; musician Shafi Mondol and Rubayyat Jahan, and Hollywood animator Wahid Ibne Reza are the judges in the competition among others.
Encouraging people to participate in the contest, Nawshaba said, "Hopefully at this time you will create something new with the power of your art, which we will maintain as a testament to the final strive for existence of human civilization."
Nawshaba's organization is building a platform where the submissions from the contest would be placed in three categories - Art for Togetherness 2020, Power of Art and Art in the Time of Corona.
This platform is open to receive paintings, sculptures, photography, cartoons and illustrations, songs, instrumental music, poetry, stories or three-minute long short-films. Children are also encouraged to submit their art.
The artworks will be available for purchase and money raised from the display and sales of the works will be donated to the distressed and poor population of the country.
