Veteran actor and director Mamunur Rashid has penned down the eighteenth century history of Dhaka for BTV series "Zindabahar".
Directed and produced by Fazle Azim Jewel, the first slot of the drama has already been completed and the series will be broadcasted on BTV soon, according to a press release.
The drama showcases an array of starry casts including Mamunur Rashid, Lutfor Rahman George, Azad Abul Kalam, Ahmed Rubel, Ananto Hera, Shatabdi Wadud, Shah Alom Dulal, Somu Chowdhury, Shamim Visti and many others.
The drama focuses on the year 1758. A royal boat carrying Lutfunnisa Begum, wife of the slain Nawab Siraj ud-Daulah, their daughter Umme Zahoora, aunt Ghaseti Begum, and mother Amena Begum arrives at Chandpur ghat.
As the British started to gain power all over Dhaka, the exiled Nawab's family members spend their days in the Zinzira Palace. And with their journey, 'Zindabahar' starts to unfold for the viewers.
Director Fazle Azim Jewel said, "Nothing has been made on television centering the eighteenth century Dhaka. Not many know about the incidents that happened during that time. Our drama focuses on the characters that are simply forgotten such as: Naib Nazim, Nagor Kotwal, Captain, Armenian, British, French, Portuguese, Dutch, Kashmir, Descendants of Amir-Omra from Delhi, Muslin manufacturers etc. We basically want to show in the drama how the governance of Dhaka was conducted from Delhi. The audience will get to see how Dhaka was two hundred and fifty years ago through this series."
