Classical guru Ajoy Chakrabarty pays tribute to Bangabandhu with ‘Raag’
Three news songs - written in Sanskrit, Hindi and Bengali languages - will also be unveiled at the programme.
Renowned classical vocalist Pandit Ajoy Chakrabarty has dedicated a raag called "Maitree", especially composed to commemorate the birth centenary of Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman and the Indo-Bangla friendship.
The newly composed raag incorporates the traditional and classical rules of Raga music, reports Daily Sun.
Pandit Ajoy Chakrabarty will perform the raag "Maitree", in the presence of Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina and her Indian counterpart Narendra Modi, at the closing ceremony of the birth centenary of Bangabandhu and the golden jubilee of the country's independence on 26 March.
Three news songs - written in Sanskrit, Hindi and Bengali languages - will also be unveiled at the programme.
Lyrics of the Sanskrit one was written by famous Philosopher Dr Arindam Chakraborti, Hindi one was written by Dr Susmita Basu Majumder and the Bengali song was written by Ajoy Chakrabarty's student Sri Anal Chatterjee.
The renowned singer, through a video message, sent his greetings to both the Prime Ministers of Bangladesh and India and announced his participation in the historical programme.
He said, "The occasion of the 50th Independence of Bangladesh and the completion of 100 years of Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman are mentioned in all these compositions. It's a historical programme to be held in presence of Bangladesh PM Sheikh Hasina and Indian PM Narendra Modi. This unique attitude of friendship of both the countries is also mentioned in the lyrics."
Pandit Ajoy Chakrabarty is an Indian Hindustani classical vocalist, composer, lyricist and Gurudev. He is considered to be one of the proverbial figures of Indian classical music.
