David Fincher and Netflix reportedly discussing bringing back Mindhunter
Mindhunter is regarded as one of Netflix's best original shows.
Mindhunter is based on John Douglas and Mark Olshaker's best-selling true-crime book Mindhunter: Inside the FBI's Elite Serial Crime Unit. This underrated show has gained a loyal fanbase through its intriguing and spine-chilling storyline.
According to a new source, Mindhunter season 3 is in the works. After placing the serial killer thriller on 'indefinite hold' over a year ago, Netflix has revived talks with Mindhunter director David Fincher for a new season, according to UK website Small Screen.
Jonathan Groff, Holt McCallany, and Anna Torv, the show's leads, were released from their contracts in January 2020, and Netflix placed the show on 'indefinite hold.' Then David Fincher came out and shattered our dreams of seeing Mindhunter Season 3 further.
Despite Fincher acknowledging that the series didn't produce enough viewing numbers to warrant the investment needed to continue digging into the world of serial killers, Mindhunter is regarded as one of Netflix's best original shows.
With Fincher's Netflix production contract, it's only natural that Mindhunter will come up during negotiations, and the sources are giving us hints that the door might not close for this series yet.
