‘Fabulous lives of Bollywood wives’: Indian trash TV effort to keep up with the Kardashians
‘Fabulous lives of Bollywood wives’ revolves around four women: The blunt Seema Khan, foul-mouthed Maheep Kapoor, diplomatic Bhavna Panday, and the 1980’s popular actress Neelam Kothari with her weird accent
E! might be dropping the Kardashians this year but the King of Nepotism Karan Johar surely knows how to infuse Bollywood drama into a trashy version of "Keeping up with the Kardashians."
Starting with sending DMs to Kim on Instagram to blatantly copying lines from her reality show, Karan Johar is definitely not bagging the Oscar for "Original Screenplay" with his reality show.

"Fabulous lives of Bollywood wives" revolves around four women: The blunt Seema Khan, foul-mouthed Maheep Kapoor, diplomatic Bhavna Panday, and the 1980's popular actress Neelam Kothari with her weird accent.
Both shows claim to revolve around "strong ambitious woman" who rarely show their emotions because crying will, as we quote Maheep Kapoor, melt "all the mascara and makeup".
The Kardashians showcased issues such as Khloe's drinking habits, cheating scandals etc but the Bollywood version tried to highlight (as lightly as it could) body image issues and career struggles.
Kris Jenner has always been known for sharing mother-daughter goals and ambitions.
The enthusiastic mother once expressed her desire to shoot for a mother-daughter issue in the "Playboy" magazine.
But the Bollywood wives were shown as being obsessed with their children's life. They would keep tabs on where they were going and whom they were dating etc.
The Kardashian sisters and the Bollywood wives share another thing in common and that is their "charity work."
Khloe and Kourtney once helped a homeless man by taking him to their house and cleaning him up while the Bollywood wives did the beach cleanup with their customised bootlegs and matching tee shirts. Fabulous indeed!
Apart from being "inspired" by the series, "Fabulous lives of Bollywood wives" also copied lines from "Keeping up with the Kardashians".
Ananya Panday, in one of her appearances, was seen getting her makeup done for a shoot when she tells her crew members that her mother, Bhavna Panday, used to swear a lot when she was young.
"I have grown up around you and papa abusing. When I was young, I thought my name was F*** because you all used to say it."
In an episode of KUWTK (as the show is often lovingly called), Khloe said the same thing about her mother Kris Jenner. "My mom cursed so much when I were little, I thought my name was F***."
Both the Kardashians and the Bollywood wives are fierce when it comes to fights. Some of the fights in KUWTK are certainly more entertaining than the ones you see at Ultimate Fighting Championship.
The Kardashian sisters would have physical altercations, but the Bollywood wives chose to squabble over the British Royal Family.
KUWTK had multiple cameos by dogs, while the "Fabulous lives of Bollywood housewives" showcased a series of cameos such as Malaika Arora, Raveena Tandon, Arjun Kapoor, Gauri Khan and the ultimate season finale appearance, Shah Rukh Khan.
The Kardashians openly discussed their personal issues but the Bollywood wives could not come out of their perfectly crafted images that they were trying so hard to maintain.
Honestly there is not one piece of gossip or something "scandalous" the women on the show shared. Their lives seemed too perfect, and too fake.
Starting from the phone calls to even the stalking incident in Doha, everything felt scripted and there were no candid one liners or moments.
It is truly amazing how this show has remained in the top 10 trending list on Netflix even after three weeks of its release. Perhaps people are watching it to really grasp its stories, which have little or no weight.
Now that the Kardashians signed a deal with Hulu for a new show, the Bollywood wives better break out of their pristine images and spill more beans in the next season to keep up with the Kardashians.
