Friends Reunion: A trip down memory lane
For someone who has grown up watching friends - yes, this reunion was like a rollercoaster ride of emotions
Could you be any happier when you heard of the Friends cast coming together one more time since the last episode was aired in 2004?
Seeing Matthew Perry, Matt LeBlanc, Lisa Kudrow, Courteney Cox, Jennifer Aniston, and David Schwimmer all together on the set of Friends was as heartwarming for the audience as it was for the cast themselves.
"Friends: The Reunion", opened with David entering the Friends stage followed by the rest of the cast. A whirlpool of emotions flowed within the gang of six as they began tracing their steps back to a decade of shooting the sitcom.
For someone who has grown up watching friends - yes, this reunion was like a rollercoaster ride of emotions.
As the cast reminisces excerpts from the series in Monica's apartment, Chandler and Joey walk into their bachelor pad and get caught up in the moment. They find themselves in front of Rosita and her counterpart - the legendary reclining chairs and the duo share a moment that takes us back in time to season two - the one with the chairs!
We could see glimpses of the cast's old selves as they ran lines from different episodes as though it was just yesterday that they had shot scenes together. Even after so long, their expressions are still remarkably on point, making it seem like the characters were made for the cast, not the other way around.
As we went back and forth from the set to the iconic opening credit scene at Warner Bros where the gang was interviewed by James Corden, creators of Friends - Marta Kauffman, David Crane, and Kevin Bright - shared their epiphany of creating a show that was just about six friends.
"There we were, in our twenties, in New York, trying to make a living and find love," reminisced Marta and that is how the creators came up with the idea of a show that has been watched more than a staggering 100 billion times!
The Friends reunion walked us through some of the best moments of Friends both on and off screen. In its 10 years of production, we saw many guest appearances and supporting casts, some of whom made it to the reunion.
Chandler was once again reunited with his Janice - Maggie Wheeler who still managed to crack up the audience with her quirky laugh and New Yorker accent. It was her signature laugh that captured the audience and gained so much popularity that her character was stretched till the last season.
At the reunion, Maggie recalled her first time on set with Chandler. It was his sense of humour that led her to bring out Janice's unique laugh.
Many supporting cast members made appearances at the reunion and shared their experience of forming a bond no less than of a family. Celebrities including David Beckham, Lady Gaga, Kit Harington, and many more voiced out their favourite Friends moments.
People from different parts of the world, along with celebrities, shared how this timeless show is still a part of their lives and has managed to cheer them up even on the most gloomy days.
It is probably for this very reason that the show is still watched by millions of people to this day. No matter how bad of a day you have been through, your Friends will be there for you.
