‘He used to bring strange props on set’
These props varied each day. One day he would bring Surma Dani, the next day a spider, and the day after he would bring a snake along
Lutfur Rahman George has known the recently passed renowned actor Abdul Kader for some 34 odd years. They met while acting in the theatre.
"I have never seen Kader Bhai get angry even when all the other seniors did from time to time. He never even raised his voice. Kader Bhai held us with love," Lutfur recalls.
Lutfur remembers his time in the celebrated television drama 'Kothao Keu Nei.'
"It was one of the first television dramas of our career and Kader Bhai played the part of Bodi. He would get immersed in the character.
"He also did something peculiar. On every shoot day, he would bring unusual props on set. These props varied each day. One day he would bring Surma Dani, the next day a spider, and the day after he would bring a snake along," Lutfur continues.
Walking down the memory lane, Lutfur remembers how enthusiastically Kader showed these strange things around once he arrived on the set. Later with cautious footsteps, he would take them to Humayun Ahmed and ask if he could use them during his shoot.
"Humayun Bhai would look at them for a few moments and then he would scribble some lines to fit them into the drama," says Lutfur.
"He always used to think about the props and costume. He put a lot of thought into the character. And that's what made Kader Bhai different. May his soul rest in peace," Lutfur concludes.
