Renowned actor Abdul Kader lost his battle with cancer on Saturday morning. He was 69.
Abdul Kader, who was diagnosed with stage IV cancer, breathed his last at at Evercare Hospital in the capital at 8:20am, said his daughter-in-law Zahida Islam Zemy.
The admired actor Abdul Kader, well-known for playing iconic comedy characters, had been suffering from cancer and returned home from an Indian hospital in Chennai on 20 December.

Afterward, he was admitted to Evercare Hospital in the capital.
He was tested positive for Covid-19 on 21 December.
On 6 December, Abdul Kader was taken to Christian Medical College Hospital in Chennai after falling seriously ill as a tumor was detected after a computerised tomography scan of his entire body. He was taken to different hospitals in Dhaka before being taken to India.
Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina expressed her deep shock and sorrow at the death of Abdul Kader.
He (Kader) will remain alive in the hearts of people for his flowing and spontaneous acting, said the prime minister.
She also prayed for the eternal salvation of the departed soul and expressed sympathy to the bereaved family.
Kader's first namaj-e-janaza will be held at Mirpur DOH Central Mosque after Zohr prayer.
His body will be taken to Bangladesh Shilpakala Academy at 3.30 pm where his second janaza will be held.
The actor will be buried in the evening after the 3rd Janaza at Banani Graveyard, said Zahida Islam Zemy.
He became a popular face among television viewers, after playing the most talked-about character in the drama serial "Kothao Keu Nei" and the movie "Wrong Number."
Abdul Kader was born in Sonarang village in Tongibari Upazila of Munshiganj district. He started his acting career by playing the role of Amal in a drama "Dakghar" written by Rabindranath Tagore.
He also served as the drama secretary of Hazi Muhammad Mohsin Hall Student's Association at Dhaka University. He started acting in television dramas in 1972.
Besides acting, Abdul Kader also worked for Bata Shoes for many years in the eighties.
