John Boyega inks deal with Netflix
Netflix plan to release several other African Netflix Originals later on in the year.
English actor John Boyega's UK-based production house UpperRoom Productions has recently signed a deal with media service provider and streaming site Netflix.
According to The Hollywood Reporter, the deal signed between the duo will last a couple of years. It aims to create media content in Africa and give it a worldwide platform.
Reportedly included in the deal are three features, one from Egypt and two from Nigeria, where Boyega's family is from.
Netflix has been making a move to create content in Africa, having debuted its first African feature last month titled "Queen Sono". They plan to release several other African Netflix Originals later on in the year.
Recently, John Boyega wound up a lot of Star Wars fans by mocking the divisive "The Rise of Skywalker", and then took the mick out of the fans who got angry about it.
