Liberation War Museum has organized the 9th Liberation DocFest 2021, which will feature 110 selected documentaries on liberation and human rights.
The festival will be held virtually, due to concerns over the second wave of coronavirus pandemic in the country, from 6-10 April.
This year, the DocFest will celebrate the golden jubilee of the country's independence and the 25th anniversary of the museum, Prothom Alo reports.
The organisers have selected 110 documentaries to be shown at the festival out of 1900 films submitted from 112 countries.
The foreign film category will screen nine documentaries and they will be judged by esteemed juries, including India's renowned documentary filmmaker Supriyo Sen, Nepal's first documentary film festival director Mitu Varma and South Korean filmmaker Moon Chil-Park.
The local film category will screen five documentaries and the juries of this category include National Award-winning filmmaker Shabnam Ferdousi, veteran director Shameem Akhtar and film critic Alam Khorshed.
A curated exhibition of twelve documentary films, made in the last five decades, will be held to commemorate the 50th independence of the country. Moreover, twenty-five one-minute documentaries will be screened to mark the 25th anniversary of the Liberation War Museum.
The museum will also arrange a special workshop, titled 'Exposition of Young Film Talents: Storytelling Workshop for Documentary Filmmakers'. This workshop will be held from 7-10 April in association with Dhaka Doclab.
