Netflix has made a rare investment, taking a stake in Broke And Bones, the new production company recently set up by Emmy-winning Black Mirror creators Charlie Brooker and Annabel Jones.
The deal — a first-of-its-kind for the streamer and marking its first investment in the UK — will give Netflix the right to take full control of Broke And Bones by the end of an undisclosed multi-year-term, while also having exclusivity over its series and other projects. Financial details weren't disclosed.
A new project from the company is currently in the works and will be announced soon.
Broke and Bones' innovative and interactive projects are believed to be a perfect fit for Netflix. The new production house has recently went onto recruit a comedy chief, Jon Petrie. And hire producer Russell McLean who is in charge of interactive projects similar to the genre defying Bandersnatch.
This is expected to be a massive deal in terms of enormity of a nine figure deal. And it might pressure other streaming platforms to bring in more innovative content. As the duo Brooker and Annabel are masters of the craft.
Fans expect more dystopian series the like the popular show Black mirror to come out as a result of this deal.
