We cannot allow another 1984 riots: Delhi High Court
Indian Supreme Court also rebuked the Delhi Police for their lack of professionalism in controlling the violence
Hearing a petition on the violence in northeast Delhi today, the Delhi High Court has said, "In this city, we cannot allow another 1984 riots."
The court also added that the highest functionaries of the state have to be very alert and ensure that families everywhere are safe. The bench also said, "This is the time to show that Z Security is for everyone."
Earlier Indian Supreme Court rebuked the Delhi Police for their lack of professionalism in controlling the violence in the Northeast district of the national capital.

"The police need to take action like they do in England. Things are happening before them," Justice KM Joseph said while hearing a petition on clearing the road in Shaheen bagh, which has been blocked for more than two months due to protest against Citizenship (Amendment) Act or CAA.
Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi made an appeal for calm to restore peace, in his first reaction via a twitter post this afternoon, following the unprecedented violence in northeast Delhi, which killed 21 and injured more than 200.
Mentioning peace and harmony as national ethos, Modi urged to maintain brotherhood.
Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal today asked Home Minister Amit Shah to call the army as a fresh round of violence erupted in two east Delhi localities.
Kejriwal said the police, despite all its efforts, had been unable to control the situation.
Meanwhile, the Congress said Union Home Minister Amit Shah must take responsibility for violence in Delhi and demanded immediate resignation for "colossal failure" to restore normalcy.
The Congress has blamed both the Centre and the Delhi government for the violence in the national capital, Sonia Gandhi said at a press conference at the Congress headquarters in the capital.
