Traders to cut spice prices up to 25 percent
Marking the upcoming Eid-ul-Fitr, the traders agreed on keeping the hot spice prices low
Bangladesh Association of Hot Spice Wholesaler has announced that it will reduce prices by 10- 25 percent.
The announcement came on Wednesday after a six-member delegation of the association met the Minister for Commerce Tipu Munshi and secretary of the ministry Dr Md Jafar Uddin at the Secretariat.
Earlier, the international market of hot spices and import cost in Bangladesh was discussed at a meeting, presided over by Md Obaidul Azam, additional secretary (IIT) of commerce ministry.

The traders agreed to keep the prices of spices stable ahead of Eid-ul-Fitr.
After the discussion, the hot spice business association declared the pricelist of the hot spices.
According to the announcement, the price of cumin (Indian) was set at Tk300 – Tk340 per kg, cinnamon (Chinese) was set at Tk310 - Tk330 per kg, and cinnamon (Vietnamese) was set at Tk350-370 per kg.
Moreover, they set the price of clove per kilogram at Tk680- Tk720, the price of true cardamom was set Tk2,800 – Tk3,200 per kg, black pepper (white) was set at Tk550 – Tk580 and black pepper (black) was set at Tk360 – Tk380 per kilogram.
Md Enayet Ullah, president, and Md Atiqul Haque, secretary general, of the association signed the pricelist.
Officials of the Directorate of National Consumer Rights Protection have been conducting raids in different markets following abnormal price hike of spices.
