The president and executive committee of the American Chamber of Commerce in Bangladesh (AmCham) have expressed their condolences over the demise of Latifur Rahman, chairman of the Transcom Group.
In press release on Wednesday, the organisation said the late Latifur Rahman has been a symbol of successful entrepreneurship in the domain of commerce and industry of Bangladesh, who has contributed immensely to the country's development.
It added that self-determination, hard practice and far-sighted steps brought for him this recognition in Bangladesh and beyond.
AmCham stated that it is an extraordinary loss not only for Transcom family but also for the entire nation; and added that he would be remembered for his outstanding contribution in many fields of business, and his remarkable contribution to the national economy.
"The success achieved by Mr Latifur Rahman also belongs to the motherland, people of the country and the upcoming new generation," the press release read.
"We gratefully remember his many contributions to the AmCham as an esteemed member. AmCham Bangladesh was proud to award him in 2001 as 'AmCham Business Executive of the Year'. We pray to the Almighty for the salvation of the departed soul of Mr Latifur Rahman and to grant his family members necessary strength to face this unbearable situation."
"Please accept the heartfelt sympathy of the members of AmCham at your bereavement. May Allah rest the departed soul in eternal peace and give the rest of the family the courage to withstand the irreparable loss," the press release added.
