A microbus and a private car were severely damaged after being hit by a train in the capital's Moghbazar this evening (1 December).
The vehicles tried to cross the tracks ignoring the lineman's signal but got stuck on tracks as there were other cars in front of them, Railway Police said.
"No one was injured in the accident as the drivers and passengers of the cars got out before the train hit the vehicles," Dhaka Railway Police Station Officer-in-Charge Zoynal Abedin told reporters.
According to police, the lineman of the rail crossing was already bringing down the barrier as the train was coming. But the cars ignored the signal and rushed to cross the tracks.
But they failed to cross as there were cars stuck in front of them. The front of the cars got completely wrecked after being hit by the train, police added.
