Bangladeshi musicians to perform live at virtual fundraiser
The third week of the event will feature international artistes of Bangladeshi heritage, including Shapla Farzana Shalique and others
With a motto to collect donations for the ongoing pandemic and Super Cyclone Amphan relief to support vulnerable remote communities in Bangladesh, "The Horizon Sessions" an online music festival, kicked off on June 26.
The three-week long virtual concert series is hosted by students and alumni of Sunbeams School in honour of Niloufer Manzur, who was the founding principal of the school.
The artistes featured during the first week were Zahra Zillur, Saif Anam, Sharaf Momen, Azaan Khan, Wasti Farzana Khan, Ashreen Mridha, Ace, Ayman Raakin, Shayan Husain, and Shafaat Mridha.
The second week will feature popular Bangladeshi musicians like Habib, Arnob, Zohad Reza Chowdhury, among others.
The third week of the event will feature international artistes of Bangladeshi heritage, including Shapla Farzana Shalique and others. All the sessions start at 7:30pm.
The initiative is supported by Friendship NGO and aims to raise awareness and funds for covid-19 and Cyclone Amphan relief.
The donations collected from the series of virtual concerts will go towards building covid-19 testing booths in rural area and rebuilding homes, reservoirs, and embankments destroyed by Cyclone Amphan in the south.
Anyone can contribute to the cause by donating through Bkash and Nagad numbers given on The Horizon Sessions Facebook page. The online event organisers will also accept international donations. For international transactions banks accounts numbers are given on the same page. GoFundMe option is also available for donations.
