foodpanda hosts football tournament for riders
Bangladesh's leading food and grocery delivery platform, foodpanda, today hosted its first football tournament for rider partners to promote safety, well-being, and community building.
The day-long event occurred at Banani Kamal Ataturk Field, with around 150 riders from different zones across Dhaka competing in eight teams.
Ruhul Amin Robin, Senior Manager of Rider Recruitment, and Sahida Fatema, Manager of Rider Experience at foodpanda, handed the championship trophy to the winning team. foodpanda officials attended the event to support the teams and enjoy the matches.
The eight teams included Gulshan Vipers, Dhanmondi Madrid, Mirpur Terminators, Lalbagh Royals, Bashundhara Defenders, Mohammadpur Bandits, Uttara Avengers, and Baily Road Dragons. The tournament followed a knockout format.
Haider Malik, Director of Operations at foodpanda, said, "Our riders are the backbone of our operations. We are committed to creating opportunities that recognise their hard work and promote a balanced lifestyle. This tournament was an effort to help them build strong memories and foster unity."
The Rider Football Tournament is part of foodpanda's 'panda hearts' program, which supports riders' safety, well-being, personal development, and community engagement. Previously, foodpanda also organized a cricket tournament under the same initiative. PRAN and Pizza Hut supported the football event, while NEW SUN sponsored the jerseys.
