Cummins’ five-for inspires Australia’s 10-wicket demolition of India

Australia demolished India by 10 wickets in the second Test in Adelaide, levelling the Border-Gavaskar series at 1-1.

On 8 December, the hosts needed just three days to dismantle India's batting and showcase their dominance in a resounding pink-ball Test victory.

Fired up after their heavy defeat in Perth, Australia came out with renewed intent. Travis Head's blistering century and the fiery pace duo of Mitchell Starc and Pat Cummins propelled them to a comprehensive win, extending their unbeaten record in day-night Tests at the Adelaide Oval to eight matches.

India, resuming their second innings on 129 for 5, crumbled under pressure and were bowled out for 175 on the third morning.

Mitchell Starc set the tone, dismissing Rishabh Pant in the day's opening over. While Nitish Kumar Reddy fought bravely with a top score of 42, the rest of the batting line-up offered little resistance.

Pat Cummins joined the pink-ball demolition with a sensational five-wicket haul, reducing India to set a meagre target of 19 runs.

India's performance was a shadow of their spirited display in Perth. While they avoided the ignominy of their infamous 36-all-out collapse at the same venue in 2020, their batting once again faltered under the lights.

Big names like Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli failed to deliver, and the energy and resilience seen in previous Australian tours were notably absent.
