Members of the joint force, consisting Bangladesh Army and Rapid Action Battalion (RAB), arrested five members of criminal gang "Kobji Kata Anwar Group" in the capital's Mohammadpur area yesterday (14 December).
Shihab Karim, assistant director of RAB-2, said the gang's top terrorist "Kumir Rubel" and Korban and three of their associates were taken into custody during a drive in Mohammadpur's Sheshertek area yesterday evening.
At the time, several sharp weapons including three machetes were seized from the five men.

Shihab said the arrested individuals had been involved in mugging activities and hacking people with sharp weapons in the Mohammadpur area for a long time.
Further legal proceedings against them were underway, added the official.
