Anti-Discrimination Student Movement rejects President Shahabuddin’s invitation to Victory Day celebration
The Anti-Discrimination Student Movement has declined President Mohammed Shahabuddin's invitation to participate in the Victory Day celebrations at Bangabhaban.
The organisation announced the decision citing the "president's association with the fallen fascist regime", reads a press release issued today (16 December).
As per the decision of its executive committee, no leader or activist affiliated with the movement will attend the event.
The movement views celebrating national holidays like "Victory Day under a president linked to fascism as contrary to the spirit of the mass uprising", said the media release.
President Mohammed Shahabuddin hosted a reception programme at Bangabhaban this evening on the occasion of the country's 54th Victory Day.
