3rd Aqua Paints and Elite Steel victory day championship 2024 ends
The grand finale of the 3rd Aqua Paints & Elite Steel Victory Day Squash Tournament 2024 was held today at Gulshan Club with much enthusiasm and excitement.
Over 160 participants from various districts and clubs competed, showcasing the growing popularity of squash in Bangladesh.
Shahidul Islam Shahid (Gulshan Club) and Marjan Akter Monika (IUB) were the champions of the men's and women's open (national) groups, respectively. Members Day Champion Abid Monsur, Gulshan Club. The top five players in the open categories received cash prizes and trophies, while age-based winners received gift vouchers.
The championship began on December 26 with a ceremonial inauguration at the Army Squash Complex.
The event's Chief Guest, Major General Hasan Uz Zaman, President of the Federation, emphasised the importance of sports patronage and lauded the Gulshan Club's commitment. Special Guests M A Kader Anu, president of the Gulshan Club, and Sajedur Seraj, Deputy Managing Director of Aqua Paints and Elite Steel, pledged continued support for squash development, especially for women players.
Brig. General (Retd.) G.M. Kamrul Islam, the Federation's general secretary, shared aspirations for international success, including medal achievements at the next SA Games.
The Federation deserves accolades for organising such a high-calibre event despite resource challenges. Aqua Paints and Elite Steel reiterated their commitment to the sport's advancement and wished for squash's growing success in Bangladesh.
