1,896 candidates appointed in revised 43rd BCS list; 168 excluded
Appointed candidates have been directed to report to their assigned offices under respective controlling ministries by 15 January
A total of 1,896 candidates have been appointed for various cadres in the revised list of the 43rd Bangladesh Civil Service (BCS), following a notification by the Public Administration Ministry on Monday.
This update excludes 168 candidates who were previously recommended by the Bangladesh Public Service Commission (PSC).
The revised notification introduced adjustments to several cadre appointments. In the administration cadre, the number of appointed candidates was reduced to 267 from 293 in the initial notification.
Similarly, the police cadre now includes 88 appointees, down from 96, and the foreign affairs cadre saw appointments drop to 22 from 25.
Appointed candidates have been directed to report to their assigned offices under respective controlling ministries by 15 January.
They will undergo basic training at the Public Administration Training Center or other government-designated institutions, followed by specialized training tailored to their job responsibilities.
As per the notification, appointees will serve a two-year probationary period. During this time, their performance will be evaluated, and candidates found unfit may face dismissal without prior notice or consultation with the Public Service Commission.
The original results of the 43rd BCS were published by the PSC on December 26 last year, recommending 2,805 candidates for recruitment—2,163 for cadre positions and 642 for non-cadre roles.
Earlier on 15 October, the government appointed 2,064 candidates based on PSC's recommendation, nearly ten months after the results were initially published.
