BIPPA elects new leadership for 2025-2026
K. M. Rezaul Hasanat has been elected as the President of the Bangladesh Independent Power Producers' Association (BIPPA) for the term 2025-2026. The announcement was made during the Election Board Meeting on 17 December 2024. Alongside him, Gulam Rabbani Chowdhury, Abu Bakar Siddique Ali Chowdhury, and Navidul Huq were elected as Vice-President Finance and Vice Presidents, respectively.
The newly elected directors of BIPPA include A.N.M. Tariqur Rashid, Faisal Ahmed Chowdhury, Md. Reaz Uddin, Mostafa Moin, Md. Rubyet Tanvir, Mohammad Shamim Reza Khan, and Aniqa Haque.
K. M. Rezaul Hasanat, Chairman of VIYELLATEX Group, entered business in the 1990s after completing his post-graduation in Business Management. He shifted to the IPP sector in 2012. Mr. Hasanat has received numerous national and international awards and serves as an advisory board member of the UN Green Industry Platform.
Gulam Rabbani Chowdhury is the founder of Baraka Group and has received the President's Award for innovation in agro-machinery. He also owns Baraka Fashions and Royal Educare Limited and is a graduate of Chittagong University.
Abu Bakar Siddique Ali Chowdhury is the Managing Director and CIOO of ASMA Capital Partners B.S.C. (c) and the manager of the $750 million IDB Infrastructure Fund II. He holds a postgraduate degree in Finance and Economics.
Navidul Huq is the Managing Director of Desh Energy Ltd. and Mohammadi Group. He holds a BSc. in Business Management and Computer Information Systems from Bentley University, USA.
