Special honorarium for frontline Covid-19 fighters
The finance ministry issues circular announcing incentive for medical personnel equivalent to their two months’ salaries
The government will give two months' basic salary as special honorarium to medical personnel who are leading the fight against Covid-19.
Doctors, nurses and other health workers directly involved in coronavirus treatment will get the incentive, the Ministry of Finance said in a circular issued on Thursday.
"The health directorate will send the list of the medical professionals to the health ministry. The health ministry with finance ministry approval will provide the honorarium after verifying the names," said the circular.
The health ministry got an allocation in the budget for FY2020-21 to provide the incentive.
Previously, the prime minister announced that frontline medical personnel would be rewarded for their services during the coronavirus pandemic.
The government also announced that family members of frontline fighters will be eligible for compensations as per the pay scale if anyone dies of Covid-19 infection. Besides, the employees will be given Tk5-10 lakh if they get infected with the virus.
