Agent banker handcuffed, beaten, robbed of Tk15.7 lakh in Munshiganj by unidentified men
An agent banker has been allegedly robbed of Tk15.7 lakh by unidentified men who also beat the victim after handcuffing him in Munshiganj.
The incident took place in Kanthaltali village of Sirajdikhan upazila of the district today (14 January).
A written complaint was filed with Sirajdikhan Police Station regarding the incident, said Assistant Superintendent of Police (Sirajdikhan Circle) ANM Imran Khan.
The victim, Afzal Sheikh, is an agent banker of the Bhabanipur branch of Islami Bank in Jainsar union of the upazila.
Afzal said he was picked up in a microbus at gunpoint by a group of men in front of a poultry farm at noon when he was on his way to the Bhabanipur branch with Tk15.7 lakh.
"When I asked about the handcuffs and blindfold, those people beat me up. They said there is a case regarding violence against women against me and I will be taken to court. Then they took all the money I had with me and left me somewhere else," he said.
ASP Imran said the incident is being investigated and necessary actions will be taken if evidence are found.
