The South African confirmed his decision through a social media post, bringing an end to his tenure that began in 2023.
Nick Pothas, the assistant coach of the Bangladesh Cricket team, has stepped down from his role, citing family reasons.
The South African confirmed his decision through a social media post, bringing an end to his tenure that began in 2023.
Pothas was contracted with the BCB until March 2026, but his resignation comes just before the highly anticipated Champions Trophy, set to take place in Pakistan and the UAE.
Sharing his departure message on Instagram, Pothas wrote: "Well, like all good things, this too must come to an end. I've had an amazing time with some great people. We've broken many records along the way and made history and amazing memories. Now to spend some quality time at home and see what the next chapter holds."
Despite his departure, Pothas extended his best wishes to Bangladesh cricket, adding: "An incredible year awaits Bangladesh cricket. My best wishes to the team. I will miss you all."
Pothas joined the BCB coaching panel in 2023, bringing with him significant international experience.
Prior to his stint with Bangladesh, he served as Sri Lanka's head coach during the 2017-18 season and held the same role with the West Indies in 2018-19. Beyond head coaching, Pothas has also worked as an assistant and fielding coach for various teams, including franchise sides.
While his departure marks a significant change for the Bangladesh coaching setup, the BCB has yet to make an official statement regarding his replacement or the implications for the team's preparation ahead of the Champions Trophy.
