Bashir for proper enforcement of Consumer Rights Protection Act
Commerce Adviser Sk Bashir Uddin today (19 January) emphasised the need for proper enforcement of the Consumer Rights Protection Act 2009.
He made the remarks while chairing the 28th meeting of the National Consumer Rights Protection Council, held at the conference room of the Directorate of National Consumer Rights Protection, according to a press release.
Highlighting the importance of raising public awareness about consumer rights, Bashir said, "If consumers become aware of their rights, they will develop the desire to claim them."
He stressed that proper enforcement of the consumer rights protection law is essential to safeguard everyone's interests.
Underscoring the responsibility of every citizen toward society, Bashir urged individuals to remain conscious of their duties and obligations in this regard.
The commerce adviser also suggested incorporating concepts of consumer rights and moral education into the academic curriculum, if necessary.
Commerce Secretary (Routine Charge) Md Navid Shafiullah, Director General of the Directorate of National Consumer Rights Protection Md Abdul Alim Khan and FBCCI Administrator Md Hafizur Rahman also spoke at the event.
Consumers Association of Bangladesh General Secretary Md Humayun Kabir Bhuiyan, Bangladesh Standards and Testing Institution Director General SM Ferdous Alam, and a representative of the Directorate General of Drug Administration also expressed their remarks.
