For the first time, a three-day Burning Crab Festival is set to captivate food enthusiasts and tourists at Mermaid Beach Resort on Pechardweep, along the scenic Cox's Bazar-Teknaf Marine Drive. Scheduled from January 29 to 31, this unique event will showcase traditional and innovative culinary delights, with special dishes prepared by celebrated chef Inara Jamal.
Curated by Japan's renowned festival architect and lighting designer, Zero Endo, the festival draws inspiration from the globally celebrated Burning Man Festival, known for its vibrant creativity and large-scale cultural expression.
Chef Inara Jamal, a graduate of the Institute of Culinary Education in New York, will headline the festival with her culinary creations. Her dishes will feature an array of seafood, reimagined with innovative presentations that blend Southeast Asian and Bangladeshi traditions. Emphasizing the use of natural ingredients, she aims to offer an experience that goes beyond taste to connect attendees with the rich cultural heritage of the region.

"Food is not just about taste; it also connects people to culture. At this festival, I will present dishes that merge Southeast Asian and Bangladeshi traditions, providing food enthusiasts with a unique and delightful experience," said Chef Inara Jamal.
Anisul Haque Chowdhury, Managing Director of Mermaid Eco Tourism Limited, expressed excitement about the festival, stating, "The taste of food is not just about flavor; its history, culture, and creativity are equally important. That's why we want to involve successful young chefs of the country in this festival, and Inara Jamal is one of them."
