Mercantile Bank PLC hosts shari'ah banking knowledge sharing session
Mercantile Bank PLC organised a daylong "Knowledge Sharing on Shari'ah Banking: an Interactive Session" at Fars Hotel, Dhaka, on 25 January 2025.
Top management and Senior Executives of the bank, different Divisional Head from the Head Office, Regional Heads and Head of Branches, Charge of Islamic Banking Windows from different branch locations of the country, and all officials from the Islamic Banking Division participated in this interactive session. Mati Ul Hasan, Managing Director of the bank inaugurated the session as Chief Guest. He advised the participants to strictly adhere to the compliance of Islamic shari'ah principles and guidelines in all transactions of Islamic Banking operations with the aim of the bank's slogan, "Efficiency is our Strength" in his inaugural speech.
Deputy Managing Director and Chief of Islamic Banking Md Zakir Hossain, along with all other DMDs Adil Raihan, Shamim Ahmed, Ashim Kumar Saha, Dr Zahid Hossain, CFO Taposh Chandra Paul, PhD, and Deputy Chief of Islamic Banking Mohammad Mijanur Rahman Sharker, were also present in the workshop. Javed Tariq, Principal of the Training Institute, moderated and conducted sessions.

Abdul Awal Sarker, former Executive Director of Bangladesh Bank, and other renowned Islamic Banking specialists and practitioners/policymakers were also present as Special Guests. They conducted the interactive sessions on various issues of Islamic Banking principles, operations, central bank guidelines, Shari'ah Governance, etc.
Moulana Shah Muhammad Waliullah, CSAA, the honourable Chairman of the Shariah Supervisory Committee (SSC) of Mercantile Bank PLC, concluded the session by addressing the importance of Shari'ah Compliance and also wishing the prosperity and success of the bank's "Taqwa" Islamic Banking.
