Bangladesh Navy ship 'BNS Somudra Joy' departs for Exercise Aman-2025 to be held in Pakistan
Bangladesh Navy ship BNS Somudra Joy departed from the Chattogram Naval Jetty today (26 January) to participate in the upcoming "EXERCISE AMAN-2025," scheduled to take place in Karachi, Pakistan, from 7-11 February.
The ship's departure was marked by a formal ceremony, with a traditional Navy band performing to bid farewell in line with naval customs. Senior naval officers, along with the families of the officers and sailors onboard, attended the event, according to a press release.
The farewell ceremony was graced by Rear Admiral Mir Ershad Ali, commander of the Chattogram Naval Area, as the chief guest. He delivered an address offering guidance and encouragement to the officers and sailors embarking on the mission.
The EXERCISE AMAN-2025 will see participation from high-level representatives, observers, military experts, and naval ships from various countries worldwide.
The BNS Somudra Joy, commanded by Captain Md Shahriar Alam, will represent Bangladesh, with a total of 274 naval personnel onboard, including 33 officers and 58 trainee officers.
On its way to Pakistan, BNS Somudra Joy will also pay goodwill visits to Colombo, Sri Lanka, and Malé, Maldives. These port calls aim to further strengthen diplomatic ties and foster friendships with friendly nations.
The Bangladesh Navy has previously participated in EXERCISE AMAN in 2007, 2009, and 2013, earning global recognition for its professionalism and expertise.
