Rickshaw driver killed, three-wheeler snatched in Dhaka
An auto-rickshaw driver was killed and his three-wheeler was snatched in Dhaka's Badda area last night (26 January).
The deceased was identified as Abdus Salam, 65.
The incident occurred past midnight. Critically injured, Salam was rushed to the emergency department of Dhaka Medical College Hospital (DMCH), where doctors declared him dead at 1:40am.
According to the victim's nephew, Sujan, unidentified assailants attacked Salam with a heavy object before fleeing with the autorickshaw. Locals discovered him lying in a pool of blood and informed the family, who took him to the hospital.
Sujan added that Abdus Salam hailed from Sherpur Sadar upazila and was residing with his family in Merul Badda. He is survived by four sons and three daughters.
Inspector Md Faruk of DMCH Police Camp confirmed the death and said the body has been sent to the morgue for an autopsy.
The matter has been reported to the concerned police station for further investigation.
