Frobel Play School hosts seminar on inclusive education in Bangladesh
Frobel Play School Dhaka organized a seminar titled "Taking Bangladesh Towards Inclusion: Leave No Child Behind," focusing on advancing an equitable education system in Bangladesh by integrating neurodiverse children into mainstream classrooms. Held at Frobel Play School Dhaka, the seminar brought together educators, policymakers, and reformers to discuss systemic changes needed for inclusive education.
Md. Mahbubur Rahman Billah, Director of Monitoring & Evaluation at the Directorate of Primary Education, graced the seminar as the Chief Guest. Other distinguished attendees included John Ekaju (Education Manager of UNICEF Bangladesh), Md. Golam Faruk (Member of the Public Service Commission of Bangladesh), and Md. Saidul Huq (Executive Director, BERDO).
The event featured two expert panels. The first panel, moderated by Insiyah Zohair Ali, discussed "Reforming Education for 21st-Century Inclusive Classrooms." Esteemed panelists included Prof. M. Nazmul Huq (Former Professor of Education, IER-DU), Ms. Munia Islam Mozumder (CEO, Teach for Bangladesh), and Maryam Noor Yunus (Academic Advisor, Cambridge University Press and Assessment).
The second panel, moderated by Ms. Aouana Marzia Monadi, focused on "Building Bridges: Toward Inclusive Education in Our Schools." Panelists included Md. Saidul Huq, Ms. Ayesha Mahmood (Lecturer at BRAC IED), Dr. Geet Oberoi (Founder & Special Educator, Orkids Foundation), and Md. Abdullah Al Mamun (Education Officer at the Directorate of Primary Education).
Dr. Geet Oberoi also conducted a workshop titled "Invisible Disabilities in the Classroom," attended by 40 educators from various schools.
Launched in August 2023, Frobel Play School Dhaka is the city's only inclusive preschool, emphasizing a holistic and play-based curriculum inspired by Froebel's philosophy. Under the leadership of Huwra Tehseen Zohair and Insiyah Zohair, the school integrates neurodiverse children into mainstream classrooms, fostering emotional, academic, and social growth through personalized attention and interactive learning.
