Saraswati Puja to be celebrated tomorrow
The festival is celebrated every year on the fifth day of the bright fortnight of the month of Magh
Saraswati Puja, one of the main religious festivals of the Hindu community, will be celebrated across the country tomorrow (3 February).
It is celebrated every year on the fifth day of the bright fortnight of the month of Magh, as Goddess Saraswati was born on this day.
The day is called 'Vasant Panchami'.
As Saraswati is considered the Goddess of wisdom and knowledge, Hindu devotees, especially students, celebrate the Puja in different educational institutions and temples.
President Mohammed Shahabuddin and Chief Adviser to the interim government Prof Muhammad Yunus issued separate messages greeting the Hindu devotees.
In his message, President Mohammed Shahabuddin, said Bangladesh is a shining example of communal harmony.
"We have a glorious and ancient tradition. From time immemorial, the people of this country have been practicing their respective religious rites and rituals through mutual harmony and coexistence. To uphold this glorious tradition, every citizen must contribute from their respective positions. Along with establishing equality and peace in society, the knowledge we have gained must be used for the welfare and service of humanity," he said.
"I hope that through everyone's collective efforts, we will build a new Bangladesh based on knowledge, harmony, and free from discrimination," said the President.
In his message, Chief Adviser Muhammad Yunus said on August 5, an interim government was formed through an unprecedented uprising by students, workers, and the masses.
It is working to improve the fortune of all people, regardless of nationality, religion, caste or community and to ensure equal rights for everyone.
"On the occasion of worshipping Goddess Saraswati, I call upon all members of the Hindu community to dedicate themselves to acquiring knowledge and contribute to the country's development and progress," he said.
