Ex-minister Nuruzzaman sent to jail after 5-day remand
Judge Devi Rani Roy of the Rangpur Metropolitan Magistrate Court-3 ordered to send him to jail

A Rangpur court today (4 February) sent former social welfare minister Nuruzzaman Ahmed to jail in connection with the killing of Mahmudul Hasan Munna during the anti-discrimination student movement.
After the five-day remand, Investigating Officer of the case Sub-Inspector of Police (SI) of Kotwali police station Mostafizur Rahman produced Nuruzzaman in Rangpur Metropolitan Magistrate Court-3 this afternoon.
After hearing both sides, Judge Devi Rani Roy of the Rangpur Metropolitan Magistrate Court-3 ordered to send him to jail.
Earlier, police arrested former Minister Nuruzzaman Ahmed from the house of one of his relatives in the Central Road area in Rangpur city around 8:30pm on 30 January.
On 31 January, the investigating officer produced former Minister Nuruzzaman Ahmed in court and applied for a 15-day remand.
Then, the court granted a five-day remand.
A case has been filed against former Social Welfare Minister Nuruzzaman Ahmed, his son, and 128 others in connection with the murder of Mahmudul Hasan Munna during the anti-discrimination movement in Rangpur.
Munna's father, Abdul Majid, filed the case with the Rangpur Metropolitan Magistrate Kotwali Cognizance Court on 29 August last year.
