Sheikh Mujibur Rahman's mural vandalised in Savar

An agitated crowd vandalised a mural of Sheikh Mujibur Rahman at Muktir Mor in Savar's municipal area earlier today (6 February).
At around 1am, a group of over a hundred people gathered at the site and used hammers and other metal tools to damage parts of the mural, witnesses said.
While some sections of the portraits on three sides were defaced, the main structure of the mural remained mostly intact.
This is the second such incident, as protesters had previously vandalised the mural on 5 August following the fall of the Awami League government during the student-led uprising.
After the initial vandalism, the site was renamed "Teen Shohid Chattar" in honour of three individuals killed in the Savar during the mass uprising, with a banner installed at the location.
Eyewitnesses reported that a group of 80 to 100 people chanted slogans as they targeted the mural, deliberately damaging the images.
Authorities have yet to comment on the incident.
