US President Donald Trump has reiterated his proposal for a US takeover of the Gaza Strip, despite widespread rejection from Palestinians and world leaders on Wednesday, reports BBC.
In a social media post, Trump stated that Gaza "would be turned over to the United States by Israel at the conclusion of fighting."
He added that Palestinians "would have already been resettled in far safer and more beautiful communities, with new and modern homes, in the region."
Trump first unveiled his Gaza proposal on Tuesday night, suggesting that the US take a "long-term ownership position."
On Thursday morning, the US president spoke at two prayer events in Washington DC. Though he did not mention his Gaza plan, he emphasised his desire to be seen as a "peacemaker and a unifier."
