Artistes demand resignation of Misha-Zayed
The outcast artistes took to the streets, protesting against the Misha-Zayed panel.
Around 182 artistes of the Bangladesh Film Development Corporation (BFDC) lost their voting rights in the last Bangladesh Film Artiste Committee election. Misha Sawdagar and Zayed Khan were elected as the President and General Secretary of the organising body in the election.
To regain their voting rights, the outcast artistes took to the streets, protesting against the Misha-Zayed panel.
The artistes took part in a human chain at the main gate of BFDC on Sunday (July 19) at 11:30 am. Mizan, Jamal Patwari and Sadia and others were present at the protest.
The artistes said, "We have worked in two to three hundred movies throughout our career. We were members of the Artistes Association. But after Zayed and Misha Sawdagar took the helm, they canceled the validity of our membership. This wrongdoing cannot be tolerated. We demand their resignation."
The Shilpi Samiti association had a total of 624 voters in the 2016-17 biennial election. After the Misha Sawdagar-Zayed Khan panel won, 161 voters were disqualified from the list and were demoted to associate members.
