Barking deer takes shelter in BGB camp
The deer is currently being treated at Bangladesh Bonyo Prani Seba Foundation’s office
An injured barking deer, locally known as a maya horin, took shelter at the 46 Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) headquarters in Sreemangal – having climbed the camp's wire fence in an attempt to save itself.
The incident happened on Monday and the deer is currently being treated at Bangladesh Bonyo Prani Seba Foundation's office.
Sources from the BGB camp said upon sighting the injured deer inside the camp the BGB members rescued it–then handed it over to the Bangladesh Bonyo Prani Seba Foundation.

Sajal Deb, director of Bangladesh Bonyo Prani Seba Foundation said, "We have taken all the necessary steps for the deer's treatment. This one is a male deer. After it is fully recovered, necessary steps will be taken as per the rules."
Monayem Hossen, range officer at the Nature and Wildlife Conservation Department of Sreemangal range said, "We will release the deer into the forest after it recovers."
Barking deer are often caught by poachers in Lawachara forest – which is just a few kilometres away from the 46 BGB camp in Sreemangal.
