4 killed in Teknaf ‘gunfight’
Police have recovered 50,000 yaba tablets, two locally-made weapons and eight rounds of ammunition from the spot
Four people were killed in a reported gunfight with police at Kharangkhali area in Teknaf upazila of Cox's Bazar early today.
The deceased are Md Ismail, 25, Anwar Hossain, 22, Md Nasir, 23 and Anwar, 24. The deceased persons were Bangladeshis and Rohingyas.
"On information of a shootout between two groups over a yaba trading in the Satgharia Para area of Kharangkhali, police rushed to the spot. Sensing the presence of the law enforcers, the traders opened fire on the police, who then fired back in self-defence," said Pradeep Kumar Das, officer-in-charge (OC) of Teknaf police station.
Police have recovered 50,000 yaba tablets, two locally-made weapons and eight rounds of ammunition from the spot.
The bodies were sent to Cox's Bazar District Sadar Hospital for autopsy.
