Bangladesh soon to surpass Italy’s number of Covid-19 cases
Italy has a population of 60 million, while the current population of Bangladesh is about 164 million
Bangladesh's tally of confirmed Covid-19 cases is all set to move past Italy's total number of coronavirus infections within 4 to 5 days, unless the current infection rate of the country doesn't change miraculously.
Italy, so far, has reported 247,537 cases and 35,141 deaths since the beginning of the outbreak in the country on January 31, 2020.
Bangladesh, on the other hand, reported 237,661 cases and 3,111 deaths as of July, with the daily infection rate fluctuating between 20 to 25 percent.
Italy has a population of 60 million, while the current population of Bangladesh is about 164 million.
According to World Data as of July 31, Italy performs 0.45 daily tests per thousand people and Bangladesh performs 0.07 daily tests per thousand people.
Since the first detection of the infection in Italy, the government took stringent measures to contain the outbreak. It has been said that the nation's mass-testing policy for asymptomatic carriers was proven to be successful in stopping the spread of the deadly virus.
