Artist Murtaja Baseer dies of Covid-19
He was tested positive with the virus on Friday night, hours after being hospitalised with various complications
Ekushey Padak winner noted artist Murtaja Baseer has died from coronavirus infection today.
"He breathed his last at 9:10am," his daughter Munirah Bashir confirmed it to The Business Standard.
President Md Abdul Hamid and Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina have expressed deep condolences over the death of the artist Mortaja Baseer.
He was tested positive with the virus on Friday night, hours after being admitted to the Evercare Hospital in Dhaka with lung and kidney problems.
Murtaja Baseer was born on August 17 in 1932. He was painter, poet, short story writer, novelist, researcher, numismatist and filmmaker. He was awarded Ekushey Padak in 1980.
